(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- Marposs Corp. has announced the availability of its Genior Modular GEMCMS-02 single-channel, compact machine monitoring system for collision monitoring and crash damage mitigation in machine tools. The GEMCMS-02 can be used as a stand-alone system or in combination with other Genior Modular solutions, achieving both collision detection and process monitoring simultaneously and visualizing the processes in parallel.

As with the entire Genior Modular system, the GEMCMS-02 is independent of control or machine type and can be retrofit to existing machines. It can be integrated into machine tools, equipment, or robots, providing a better way to protect and safeguard machine tools and minimizing the risk of downtime that can occur by programming, setup, or operating errors. It provides protection from the very first part, with no teach cut required.

(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- Marposs, a world leader in measurement and process monitoring technologies, has announced the availability of its HeTech helium technology nondestructive leak testing machines for battery systems used in electric vehicles. These machines help identify the presence of leaks in cooling tubes, hoses, and plates; prismatic battery cells and modules, as well as battery pack assemblies. These systems enable parts to be checked for defects without being transferred to a measurement lab, eliminating the need to reload and reposition the part for any necessary reworking, improving the process and optimizing cycle time.

Using helium-charged vacuum technology the part is placed into a chamber where a vacuum is created. The part is then pressurized with helium and any leakage is measured through a mass spectrometer. These helium-charged systems feature two vacuum chambers with manual opening and closing. The chambers alternate so that while one chamber is closed and running the test cycle, the other chamber is open for loading/unloading.

The machine is designed to inspect complete cells prior to electrolyte filling and sealing. The detectable leak range goes from 5.0 × 10–3 mbar*L/s to 5.0 × 10–8 mbar*L/s.

The X7 system’s artificial intelligence capability enables quick machine monitoring set up and provides an effective way to control machine performance by detecting manufacturing faults as well as part or tool variations. This enables manufacturers to optimize machine efficiency, improve part quality, and limit unplanned downtime and tooling costs.

With the X7 process-integrated monitoring solution, manufacturers can streamline set up and reduce rework, thereby providing increased capacity for additional orders without having to invest in additional presses.

The X7 is operated via a 15-in. touchscreen with 30 channels capable of monitoring maximum forces, envelope curves and trend progressions, as well as run times, set-up times and downtime, or sensitive process areas such as distorted parts or a missed feed.

Similar in size to a smart phone, Duo is extremely small and powerful, featuring a 4.3 in. touchscreen unit for display and storage of measuring data acquired through one or two sensors. Designed in response to customer needs, it is a “something in-between” display unit that provides premium features at an affordable price.

Duo is well-suited for simple manual applications when only a few measurements are needed on the shop floor at any given time. Featuring two sensor input channels, it can simultaneously display two measurements at once in either analog of digital. The system is portable, easy to configure, and provides clear visualization of measurement status.

Duo is designed to work with Marposs LVDT/HVT manual gauges, such as bore gauges M1 and M1 Star, snap gauges M3 Star, ring gauges M4 and M4 Star, and Red Crown/Red Crown2 displacement sensors with a measuring range up to ±5 mm. Data collected can be exported through the USB port or the optional Fieldbus port.

(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- Marposs announces the availability of its WRSP60 high-accuracy scanning probes for checking part profiles directly on machining centers and milling machines in real time. Parts can be checked for defects without being transferred to a measurement lab, eliminating the need to reload and reposition the part for any necessary reworking, improving the process and optimizing cycle time.

The WRSP60 probes can be used to check the quality of the part profile, compensate for part misalignment, perform surface deformation checks that provide compensation information for the cutting program, perform comparisons with the master, check the run out, and enable the “touch” necessary for positioning the part; operations that are impossible with touch probes or that would result in greatly increased cycle times.

The system transmits the data via radio to a WRI receiver using a communication protocol that offers excellent immunity to interference and reduced power consumption. The data are collected, analyzed, and displayed by a proprietary Marposs’ software package. The WRSP60 also features a multichannel system that enables the same receiver to manage up to 12 systems sequentially, including Marposs WRS part-contact probes.

(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- At IMTS 2018, Sept. 10–15, 2018, in Chicago, in the McCormick Center’s East Building, booth E-5516, Marposs will be demonstrating guided sequence gauging using augmented reality (AR). Visitors to this area of the booth will be provided with AR glasses that guide them through a sequence of steps and measurements to check features on a cylinder head component using the Marposs iWave2 handheld wireless gauge and a go/no go gauge. As visitors progress through the sequence, the perception will be that the measurement information is adhering to the workpiece.

(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- Marposs, a leader in measurement and process monitoring technologies, has announced the availability of its Mida Laser 75P Hybrid tool setter, which combines a noncontact laser and touch probe in one system. While the laser enables measurement and checks on high-speed rotating tools, the laterally mounted touch probe monitors nonrotating, lathe tools.

The incorporated Mida A90 touch probe is available with three to five tool-contact surfaces and one or more LEDs to visually detect the electrical contact between the tool and the probe.

Typical uses of the Mida Laser 75P Hybrid include tool identification, tool breakage detection, presetting of unknown tools, tool dynamic length and diameter measurement, tool wear compensation, tool-cutting edge profile integrity verification, and machine axis thermal drift compensation.  Suited for unmanned operations, the unit presets tools in the machine and updates tool table data automatically. All of this helps to reduce machine downtime and scrap, increasing productivity and production quality.

(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- Marposs Corp. has announced the availability of its new Brankamp CMS-02 stand-alone system for collision monitoring and crash damage mitigation in machine tools.

The system employs a ceramic strain sensor to detect irregularities in the production process by measuring elastic deformation in the range of 0.1 microns, and both slow and dynamically increasing forces which have damage potential. It then reacts extremely fast—in the range of 1 millisecond—by sending a stop signal to E-STOP helping to alleviate or even eliminate machine crashes that can result in high repair costs and long down times.

As compared to previous Brankamp (CMS-1) offerings, the CMS-2 is a compact, single-channel unit. It has 16 bits resolution, 25kHz sampling rate, three operation modes, and three limits per mode (warning, soft-, and hard-stop outputs limits), stop-event data recording, and signal values log file. Visualization of the data, analysis, and statistics, as well as the HMI, is realized by connecting an Ethernet cable to a Windows-based industrial PC unit or the newest IPC4 dedicated monitor.

The Optoquick system utilizes non-contact optical scanning to provide rapid and accurate measurements while the part is rotating. Optional contact probes offering high accuracy multi-axis scanning add further versatility, enabling the Optoquick system to easily solve the most demanding measuring and inspection tasks. The system delivers exceptional accuracy and performance even with demanding shapes, such as concave cam profiles, key depth measuring, or axial run-outs.

The Optoquick system is designed and built to operate on the shop floor. Dynamic temperature compensation is provided. It features user-friendly SPC software with intuitive measurement result presentation, visual auto-diagnosis notification, and capability for multi-format data exportation.

(Marposs: Auburn Hills, MI) -- Marposs Corp. will introduce its new iWave2 wireless manual gauge at the Quality Show, in booth No. 619.

The innovative iWave2 gauge features a durable, ergonomically designed handle with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that incorporates a computer with a 1.8-in. TFT color screen for displaying the measurement value in the operator’s hand. Interchangeable nosepieces rapidly convert the gauge for ID, OD, or length measurements. Measurement values can be transmitted via Bluetooth wireless technology to a gauge computer located within a 10-m distance. The iWave2 gauge has a measuring resolution of 0.0001 mm.

In addition to the measurement value, the gauge’s color graphical display with selectable portrait/landscape view presents a variety of intuitive information for the operator. The iWave2 gauge features a bar graph column with measurement unit, good/scrap part indication, wireless strength and battery levels, confirmation of measurement transmission, and an absolute/relative option setting.
