(CRC Press: Boca Raton, FL) -- Many books and articles have been written on how to identify the “root cause” of a problem. However, the essence of any root cause analysis in our modern quality thinking is to go beyond the actual problem.
Diomidis H. Stamatis (aka Dean) offers a new nontechnical statistical approach to quality for effective improvement and productivity by focusing on very specific and fundamental methodologies as well as tools for the future. In his new book, Essential Statistical Concepts for the Quality Professional (CRC Press, 2012), he examines the fundamentals of statistical understanding and shows why statistical use is important in the decision-making process.
Essential Statistical Concepts features:
• Provides a simple explanation of the most frequent statistical tests for improvement
• Includes many examples of the key statistical tests
• Introduces a list of questions and answers for particular statistics and list of where and when to use each
• Offers visual help for using Minitab, a popular software program for most statistical applications in quality, including Six Sigma
• Discusses statistical software dealing with analysis of variance (ANOVA) and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA)
