Published: Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 12:00 (ICEE: Galveston, TX) -- A new conference, titled “ISO 9001 and ISO 10018: Enterprise Engagement in Action,” will be held May 7–8, 2018, in Galveston, Texas, and will provide the first formal education program for professionals and organizations committed to implementing the quality management principles incorporated in the ISO 9001 and ISO 10018 standards. Quality Digest readers get a 15-percent discount by using promo code QD upon registration. Clause 7.1.2 of ISO 9001:2015 requires organizations to implement a systematic and comprehensive approach to engaging people in the organizational mission and quality process. To help organizations flesh out this and other pertinent new requirements, Technical Committee 176 created ISO 10018—“Quality management—Guidelines on people competence and involvement.” The one-and-a-half-day conference is produced by the International Center for Enterprise Engagement (ICEE) at the Healthcare Management Institute at the University of Texas Medical Branch, in conjunction with the Enterprise Engagement Alliance (EEA). The ICEE is a new organization that is offering the first ISO 10018 certification, and the EEA are producers of the first formal education program on enterprise engagement. The Enterprise Engagement Academy prepares professionals with the skills they will need to help organizations benefit from ISO 9001’s and ISO 10018’s people-oriented requirements. According to Ron McKinley, co-founder of ICEE and the Healthcare Management Institute, which also administers ISO Technical Committee 260 that is creating standards for human capital management, “The ISO 10018 certification has the potential to do for people quality management what ISO 9001 has accomplished in quality process management—introduce a systematic approach that aligns the various processes and provides a general framework and nomenclature that makes it easier to sustain performance while fostering a positive experience for all stakeholders. ISO 9001 has become a mark of quality process management; ISO 10018 has the potential to do the same in a way that is good for the experience of all stakeholders, from customers and distribution partners, to employees, vendors, communities, and investors.” Organizations seeking to profit from ISO 10018 for themselves or their clients can now gain an ISO 10018 certification from ICEE. The EEA learning program and ISO 10018 certification enable organizations to benefit from a systematic approach to human capital management that provides greater and more sustainable performance and a better experience for all stakeholders. “ISO 9001 and 10018: Enterprise Engagement in Action” equips quality managers and other managers in sales, marketing, human resources, operations, and finance—i.e., anyone who manages any stakeholders—with the knowledge they need to benefit from a systematic approach to stakeholder engagement. These practices help organizations achieve both strategic and tactical sales, marketing, human resources, operations, community-building, and other key goals that maximize performance. The program is co-located with Engagement World’s Professional Development Days, offering education and certification programs on culture and leadership, as well as best practices in recognition, incentive programs, and rewards and recognition.
