The Freeform X, a five-axis ultra-precision diamond turning lathe, is based on the company’s highly successful Nanoform X and Freeform platforms. The Freeform X has all the power of a large five-axis lathe in a much smaller footprint, making it ideal for facilities in which space is at a premium. It has five operational axes that facilitate a high-level of machining flexibility with 200 millimeters of X- and Z-axis travel and 100 millimeters of translation in the Y direction. When integrated with Precitech’s proprietary Fast Tool Servo, the FTS5000, and the feature rich FastCAM software, the system provides additional capabilities for increasing productivity with up to 15 times faster processing times for the manufacture of standard and complex shapes with excellent surface quality.
