Starrett to Feature Metrology, Force Measurement and Special Precision Gauge Solutions at MD&M West

Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, Aug. 10–12, 2021

Published: Monday, August 9, 2021 - 12:00

(The L.S. Starrett Company: Athol, MA) -- The L.S. Starrett Company, a leading global manufacturer of precision measuring tools and gauges, metrology systems, and more, announces it will be featuring metrology and force measurement systems as well as special precision gauge solutions, at MD&M West in booth 4415 in the Automation Technology Expo (ATX) located at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, Aug. 10–12, 2021.

Starrett video-based measurement systems combine high-resolution images, powerful intuitive software and precision mechanical platforms to deliver superb accuracy and repeatable measurement results for medical manufacturers’ precision measurement applications. The New, Versatile AVX550 Large Format Multi-Sensor Vision System is equipped with dual optical systems and touch-probe capability to measure parts with a diverse range of feature sizes and geometries. The Large Format AVX550 System can be equipped with two cameras and lenses to be used sequentially in the same program along with touch probe options, making this system one of the most versatile multisensor platforms available today. For accuracy, durability and stability, including under demanding requirements, the AVX550 system features a granite base and bridge design.

The Starrett HDV Horizontal Digital Video Comparator, which combines the best features of vision and optical comparator technology, will be demonstrated. Starrett HDV systems feature MetLogix M3 touch screen software with the powerful M3 DXF/ FOV option pack. With this software, the HDV can import DXF CAD files over a network and make automatic 2D “go/no-go” comparisons to an engineering design by using video edge detection, with no need for Mylar overlays required with conventional optical comparators. This dramatically increases measurement throughput while eliminating operator subjectivity. Geometric 2D functions include points, lines, circles, arcs, rectangles, distance, slots, angles and skew.

The popular Starrett HB400 Benchtop Optical Comparator with a long X-axis travel of 16” (400mm) will be demonstrated at ATX West. Available with optical edge detection, the HB400 Benchtop model is a workhorse of the broad line of Starrett Comparators, providing performance levels previously only available with floor standing machines.

The Starrett FMM-330 Computer-Based Force Testing Solution, which is compact and ideal for high volume, lean manufacturing production, will also be featured. Starrett L1 software, ideal for quality control and incoming inspection, and engineered to meet the requirements for fast, efficient, high-volume production testing, will be demonstrated on the FMM-330 frame. A wide variety of testing methods including; load limit, distance, breaking limit, cyclic count, cyclic duration, constant load and constant distance can be performed.

Starrett DFC Digital Handheld Force Gauges will also be featured. The DFC Series is a revolutionary concept for force measurement via a handheld force gage. The DFC may be used as an advanced digital force gage and controller with Starrett FMM Force Testers, and can serve as a universal interface where the user tests and can configure load limits, distance limits, break limits, crosshead travel direction, crosshead speed and more.

In addition, Special Precision Gage Solutions will be demonstrated at the show. When a unique precision gage is needed for QC, Starrett designs and manufactures custom gauging for the application at hand. For over 50 years, Starrett has provided special gauging solutions to industries including medical, energy, aerospace, automotive, food packaging, high-technology plastics, and to NASA and over government agencies.
