Company News: Creaform Buys InSpeck

A leading provider of 3-D scanning for the human body

Published: Tuesday, January 19, 2010 - 16:10

(Creaform: Montreal, Canada) -- Creaform announces the acquisition of InSpeck, a leader in 3-D scanning of the human body.

“This acquisition consolidates our position as leader in 3-D scanning, as well as our position in the medical, multimedia and entertainment, and 3-D imagery sectors," says Charles Mony, president of Creaform.

With headquarters in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, InSpeck has been a leader in 3-D scanning since 1994. Applications for InSpeck products include animation, special effects, medical imagery, research, and electronic games. The company's scanners are used everywhere in the world by major production and post-production companies. Clients include Sony Computer Entertainment America (providers of PlayStation products to the United States and Canada) and Gentle Giant Studios (Jabba the Hut, DRAGONBOW, WALL•e, just to name a few), among others.

“By uniting their forces, our two companies keep expertise, that is coveted all over the world, right here in Québec,” says Li Song, CEO for InSpeck. “Further, the complementary technologies of our teams will help us cover more applications and better serve the needs of the clients.”

Following this transaction, all InSpeck activities will be integrated into those of Creaform.
