Inside Quality Digest Live for July 21, 2017

Greetings from CMSC 2017!

Published: Tuesday, July 25, 2017 - 12:00

The July 21, 2017, episode of QDL came to you from the 8,000-ft grandeur of Cliff Lodge in Snowbird, Utah—site of the 2017 Coordinate Metrology Society Conference. During this special episode, we toured the show floor, looked at some great portable 3D measurement solutions, and chatted with incoming CMSC chair Gary Confalone. Let’s take a closer look:

Measurement Zone/Education Zone Tour
The heart of the CMSC experience is located right on the exhibit hall floor, where the Measurement and Education Zones allow users to learn about new technology, talk to expert metrologists, and test their skills and knowledge. We chatted with Jerome-Alexandre Lavoie of Creaform and Matthew Illardo of Brookhaven National Laboratory to find out more.

Interview: Gary Confalone
Confalone is the newly appointed chair of the Coordinate Metrology Society’s Executive Committee as well as the president and CEO of ECM Global Measurement Solutions. In this far-ranging interview, he offers his take on metrology service and training, STEM education, his coming year as chair of the organization, and more.

Tech Corner: ATOS Capsule by Capture 3D
The ATOS Capsule is a high-definition, blue-light 3D scanner from Capture 3D used to accurately measure very small to medium-sized objects. In this Tech Corner segment, Dirk examines the ATOS Capsule’s functionality with Capture 3D sales engineer Staton Apple.
