Product News: Metris Unveils Inspect-X 1.6

Software doubles computed tomography reconstruction speed.

Published: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 09:30

(Metris: Leuven, Belgium) --  Metris, market-leading supplier of X-ray and industrial computed tomography (CT) systems, launches Inspect-X 1.6 software that boosts throughput by increasing CT reconstruction speed and improving general system control. Following Metris’ drive for continual X-ray and CT system improvement, Inspect-X 1.6 further enhances system usability and introduces a faster CT reconstruction engine.

A brand new reconstruction engine increases “time-to-volume” or sample throughput and doubles reconstruction speed on existing hardware. In combination with the latest hardware on new systems, the reconstruction of a 1,024 pixel cubed volume using 1,800 images is completed in only 38 seconds, whereas reconstruction previously took two minutes. A 2,048 pixel cubed volume using 3,600 images is reconstructed in 18 minutes.

The usability of the system has been improved on various levels; the sample load position is now user programmable so it can be re-used for repeated operations, and the auto defocus function allows for higher power operation without risking target damage. The CT wizard was also improved to guide the user through the measurement process including up-front data quality verification, before spending valuable time on data reconstruction and analysis.

Inspect-X 1.6 has been improved on the basis of user feedback to further enhance software operation and interface look and feel.
