X4i-Robot Brings Flexibility and Accuracy to All Industrial Robots

Published: Tuesday, February 5, 2013 - 14:27

(Metrologic Group: Wixom, MI) -- Metrologic Group, designer and manufacturer of 3D inspection software and dimensional control systems, announces a breakthrough in metrology software suitable for all industrial robots. The X4i-Robot system provides truly accurate and reliable measurement and flexibility on the production line.

The measuring accuracy is fully independent of the robot’s precision. There is perfect synchronization between measurements and robot movements. The robot’s trajectory is entirely controlled by a simple, easy-to-create-and-update Metrolog X4 part program.

The X4 i-Robot measuring system is based on a high speed acquisition laser scanner attached to a multi-axes robot wrist. The robot, of any type or brand, without specific accuracy, behaves as a simple tool holder and positioner while the measuring accuracy is provided, either by a separate tracking camera following the laser sensor box equipped with positioning LEDs, or by a laser tracker system. Typical overall absolute accuracy: 100μm. The main applications can be found in the automotive, aerospace and their subcontractors for the manufacturing lines metrology control.
