Leica T-MAC Robot Automated Laser Point Probe Demonstration

Integration of a laser point probe with an industrial robot, using the Leica T-MAC Tracker-Machine wireless control sensor and a Leica Laser Tracker. The T-Mac can be mounted on moving robots, machines, or parts whose position(s) need to be monitored in 6DoF (Degrees of Freedom) space. This innovative measurement device was developed in response to the need for automation of tracking tasks where it is difficult, impossible or undesirable to have a human being holding a Leica T-product device like the T-Probe or T-Scan.

Leitz Infinity, the Ultra-High Accuracy CMM

Ultra high precision Leitz Coordinate Measuring Machines and Gear Checkers, including the PMM-C Infinity edition, which is the most accurate CMM that Leitz has ever produced, with 0.3 micron accuracy and 0.1 micron.

The PMM-C series are ultra high precision coordinate measuring machines suited for quick inspection of basic geometries (i.e. cylinder blocks, gear boxes etc.), and most types of special geometries. Those special geometries such as gears, optical lense, camshafts, worms, screw compressors are measured easily.

Brown & Sharpe Automated Inspection Cells

The Hexagon Metrology Special Systems Group (SSG) is a dedicated team within Hexagon Metrology that does design, system integration and project management for custom and semi-custom integrations of coordinate metrology products with other manufacturing technology. The productivity enhancements possible from CMM technology can be increased with integration within a manufacturing cell or with other systems, all designed to work together. Here, a Brown & Sharpe Global CMM is integrated into a system designed for automated part loading and unloading.

The Hexagon Metrology Special Systems group offers a complete turnkey approach to special systems, from design to procurement, project management and part programming. Integrations that are completely custom or ones that use off-the shelf components and designs for a semi-custom solution are available.

Leica T-MAC Robot Automated Alignment Demonstration

Integration of the Leica T-MAC Tracker-Machine wireless control sensor on an industrial robot with a Leica Laser Tracker, in an automatic alignment/assembly application.

The T-Mac can be mounted on moving robots, machines, or parts whose positions need to be monitored in 6DoF (degrees of freedom) space. In this case, the 3-D alignment of one part to another is accomplished with the robot, with the T-Mac/Tracker combination providing real-time positional feedback and robot guidance.

This innovative application was developed in response to the need for automation of tracking tasks where it is difficult, impossible or undesirable to have a human being holding a Leica T-product device like the T-Probe or T-Scan.
